Autumn Arrives

September 22, 2012 is the first day of Fall.  This is my favorite time of the year.  The colors are so warm and rich.  The air is crisp.  The early morning frost and a cup of coffee is my favorite start.

Susie and I have been busy with Etsy and Ebay.  I don’t think we were prepared for the blessings we received.  We are having the time of our life shopping and filling our on-line shops with so many vintage items.

I have added a few of the items that have the beautiful fall colors.

Carnival Glass - $100

Hand blown vintage vase
$55

Red Stripe Decanter

Squirrel Candy Dish

We hope you have a
wonderful weekend.

Friday's Finds

Friday's Finds

Wynne postcard post card - Merryman Street, Wynne, AR

While out and about in Wynne, we went shopping in the local thrift stores.  My all time favorite thing to do on the weekends.  We went downtown, which is such nostalgia for me.  Growing up going shopping on Saturday mornings.
Van Atkin's was a store on Merryman Street in Wynne when I was young.  Now, I go in there and it is a flea market.  The picture above is a vintage postcard of Merryman Street.

Here are some pictures of the treasures in Wynne.

How pretty.  This would look great in my vintage glass collection.

Frosted glasses are my favorites.

This would have been fun to have when I was younger.

I have seen these cast iron stars all over blogworld.  I had to do some research and found out they are masonry stars used in brick buildings many years ago.  They were bolted to the outside of the buildings to help stabilize the bow in the structure.  Now days, they are in the walls.  Cast iron wasn't as strong as the steel they use today.  I see myself looking at old buildings in search of stars.

This vase is my absolute favorite!  I wish I knew a little more about it.  I have searched google images and can't seem to find this or one close enough.  If anyone knows anything, please tell me.

Have a Wonderful Labor Day!

Halloween

Halloween Decorations

I love Vintage Halloween!  I was looking at google images and found these

After looking at these, I decided to make some Halloween Signs.  I got my inspiration from http://icehousecrafts.com/category_37/Fall.htm

I had some cedar wood planks and decided to try my hand at making signs.  I cut the planks to various sizes.  I found some free Halloween clipart.  I printed the images in reverse image.  I laid it on the wood and transfered the image.  It didn't work out so good.  I had to hand draw most of the images.  Then I painted them.  I added a wire to hang.  They are for sale in our Etsy.

Vintage Children's Hamper

Vintage Children’s Hamper

Susie has completed her first make-over.  We live two states apart and it is hard for us to work together on our found pieces.  Thankfully the internet and iphones keep us connected.  She found this adorable vintage children’s hamper.

It is adorable like this.  Not many children today would like the elf people.  She turned it into a little girls dream hamper.

WOW!  What a difference!  This cutie would put a smile on many little girls.  She painted the hamper black and added the pink/black print around the top and randomly placed pink flowers.  This charming hamper will be in our Etsy Shop.

Wonderful job Susie!  I love it!  Congratulations on your first make-over!

Chairs

Chairs, Chairs, Chairs

I have been working feverishly on reupholstering chairs.  Here are a few before/after pics.
Before
After
I think the orange material and white paint bring this chair to life.  It is for sale in our Etsy shop.
I don't have a before picture - sorry.  The wood was dark and had a few scratches.  I painted it a creamy white to accent the detail in the fabric.  I love the yorkie and bright blue fabric.  A picture of a spaniel is on the back.

Before
After
Susie found these 2 floral beauties in Atlanta.  The material was a little worn around the edges and a little to florally (if that's a word).  The wood was in perfect condition.  I covered the chairs in this powder blue and brown print.  The brown flowers have a velvet feel.  I did the back and cording in a powder blue tweed.  These chairs would add beauty to any room.
Have a wonderful weekend.
